Text Box: All Right! I’m getting a new computer!

It is always exciting when we get new computer equipment to use at work or at home.  But, the excitement can fades quickly if your data doesn’t get moved to the new computer properly.

When you get a new computer you want to be careful that your BUSTOPS data gets backed up properly first.  To validate your backup procedure, install the BUSTOPS program on another computer and restore your BUSTOPS data to that computer.  Then, check that the data is current and installed properly on this “borrowed” computer before your old computer is disposed of.  If you wait to check the data after the new computer is installed, it can be too late to recover your BUSTOPS data if the backup disk has a problem.

The points mentioned above would also apply if your technical department is going to reformat your computer or installed a new Windows Operating System.

For more suggestions on backing up your BUSTOPS data, look at the Topic of Interests at www.bustops.com Support Link section.  This information may help you when you create your backup plans with your district’s technical support department.
