Text Box: When the going gets tough … GoToMeeting Our support staff are available to help you over the telephone, or for more difficult issues we use remote control programs. In the past we have used Carbon Copy (by modem and over the internet), VNC and PC Anywhere. These programs allow us to see what is happening on your screen, explain how to do new tasks and help you if something doesn’t work the way you think it should.   We are pleased to announce that we are now using a new method called GoToMeeting. In order to connect to your computer, we send you an e-mail with a link. When you click the link it connects you to a web server to which our computer is also connected. This new method has exhibited fewer connection problems than were experienced with previous connection methods, has essentially the same features as other remote control methods and usually requires no changes to your School District’s firewall. On a related topic, MicroAnalytics is discontinuing the support of BUSTOPS using a direct modem-tomodem connection. The internet is much more reliable and increases the speed at which we can help you with your questions. Also, as MicroAnalytics replaces our computers, modems are not included in the new  hardware configuration. Finally, the software used to connect directly with modem-to-modem is older technology and has several disadvantages including difficulties running on later versions of Windows XP, difficulties running with the latest anti-virus software and lack of updates from the original licensor.   If you cannot connect to BUSTOPS Support by Internet, you should be aware that this can greatly lengthen the time it could take to help you resolve technical issues. If our staff cannot see the things on your computer that we need to resolve an issue, it may require you to send us a copy of your data through e-mail, or FTP site or mail it to us on a CD. As you would expect, this can increase the time for resolving an issue from a few hours to a week or more.   Our staff look forward to your calls.
